Observation–Salem

I had my first and only classroom observation today. I had a hard time getting to sleep last night and I was really nervous this morning. I got to school and started teaching and about 30 minutes later the principal walked in with a lady who sat down in the back of the room. It was interesting because I had never met the lady who observed me. I email her my weekly reflections and we talked a lot before I got my placement, but I had no idea what she looked like or any other information about her. Luckily she was very nice! She sat at the back of the classroom and took notes. Then while my students were in art class she gave me some quick advice before I started again with my second group of students. She only had a few negative things to say, and one was something I had no control over, so I felt pretty good. After school she took me out for lunch and we talked a little more about the school and my teaching. She seemed to have a lot of good things to say, so I’m really excited! Overall today went really well and I’m feeling great about my teaching!

We only have 13 more days, so we’re trying to squeeze a lot in. We’re also applying for jobs in the US and here in Guatemala. Who knows where we’ll end up!
